Development and innovation the knvb is committed to developing women’s and youth football, improving standards of governance in football and enhancing its technical capabilities. In 1978, the knvb became the first sports association in the netherlands to pass the legendary one million membership mark. In 1984, the royal netherlands football association knvb created an official league system for disabled players aged 16 and older. The knvb has a rich history, marked by multiple name changes.
Each year, the knvb trains thousands of new (international) trainers and coaches, at every level, from youth trainer to professional manager. Of course, one oranje team may draw a larger audience and more media attention than another, but all of them are keen to represent their country and proud to wear the iconic knvb lion on their jersey..
